alterations can be simple or complicated. Some brides only need small adjustments. Typically there are some alterations
or adjustments that are needed for most. After receiving your wedding gown, it is best that you try it on immediately.
Make sure that you have the bra, slip and shoes you will wear on that day to ensure a proper fit. Try
to set your bridal alterations appointment no later than 6 to 8 weeks from your portrait or wedding date, whichever comes
first. If you are planning to lose weight before the wedding day, being within 10lbs of your goal is ideal for your
first fitting. Your second fitting is will be several weeks out and you should still be okay. Losing inches can
be tricky, so try to do that early in the game.
Andrea's
Bridal gown is a beautiful empire waist, satin chiffon overlay, alencon lace bodice over roaching, perfect
for a destination wedding. She was referred to The Fit Experts by a bride whom I had done bridal alterations
for in the past. When she brought her gown in for alterations, the bust did not fit at all. The bust area
stood out past her chest at least 4 inches from her body. The construction of the bridal gown would
not allow me to remove all of the excess fabric from the sizes and pull the chest in for a proper fit. The bridal gown
did not curve naturally around the bust line as it should have. Needless to say major surgery had to be performed.
A few bridal fittings later, voila!

This bridal gown did not fall into the category of your typical bridal
alterations. Rachel had found her dream gown and was told that the alterations she needed were impossible.
The gown was too long- waisted for her petite figure. She asked around and found The Fit Expert Tailor. Her wedding
gown has a fully beaded bodice, drop waist and a pick-up styled skirt. The scalloped edging at the top of the gown
was not a trim. Margo shortened the bodice from the top 2 inches and reshaped the bust line. The bodice
also had to be made a total of 6 inches smaller in the waist, hips, back, and chest area. The wedding gown also
had to be hemmed and we added a French bustle. Rachel was able to have her dream wedding gown with the perfect
fit after all. The nuptials were performed at the same church as her parents over 30 years ago.
