bridal gowns usually do not require dry-cleaning before wearing. Sometimes there are exceptions such as the gown being
stored for a long period of time, pet odor or if someone smokes in the household. Try to keep your wedding
gown in an environment that will lessen your chances of having to dry-clean it before you wear it. After all you want
your bridal gown to stay in like new condition before the big day. Not all dry-cleaners take the time to give
your wedding gown the special attention that it needs and deserves. It all depends on your dry-cleaner and
their process. Some bridal gowns will be just fine through it all, and then there are others that can lose some
of its sparkle. If you do have to get your wedding gown dry-cleaned, make sure that you choose a reputable dry-cleaner
to do the job. Average dry-cleaning costs for wedding gowns can run anywhere from $75.00 to about $300.00.
Silk bridal gowns can sometimes cost even more.

There are a wide variety of bridal gowns that can be spot-cleaned instead of dry-cleaning.
The cost is more reasonable, somewhere around 75.00 to 125.00 and you will eliminate the worry of damaging
the fabric, trim and accessories. Silk and taffeta type fabrics should never be spot-cleaned. You may
remove the stain from your bridal gown, but may end up with something much worse. A good time to spot-clean your
bridal gown is when you buy a gown off the rack as is. Bridal gowns can become stained with makeup, self-tanning lotions,
and sweat from other people’s bodies. Another reason to spot-clean your wedding gown is after the portrait.
Your dress will get soiled around the hemline, armholes and neckline etc. You will feel a much
better when your bridal gown feels and smells fresh before walking down the aisle.
